With suppliers and customers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA), Van den Bosch provides innovative intermodal logistics solutions that guarantee reliability, safety and speed. Van den Bosch operates 13 locaties in the EMEA region, generates approximately €200m turnover and employs 750 people. Approximately 200 of them operate as central support from the head office in Erp, the Netherlands. In the Strategy 2025, Van den Bosch clearly expressed growth ambitions. These ambitions are to realise through organic growth as well as through acquisitions. Van den Bosch lives a culture of delivering results, making your work fun, togetherness and enjoyment. The role of Procurement Category Manager – Intermodal Transport
To realise the organic growth it is necessary to increase the intermodal transport capacity. Especially water and rail transport. In the very competitive market it is not self-evident to get this capacity awarded by third party providers. The Procurement team includes a number of Procurement Category Managers for categories such as Facilities, Subcontracting and this role Intermodal Transport.The central team negotiates and concludes contracts with suppliers. Through the ERP system, these contracts are made available for the various Van den Bosch operations in EMEA. Purpose of the role is to build and maintain robust relationships, enhance performance and increase available capacity. One of the key challenges is to get this capacity awarded.
Responsibilities of the Procurement Category Manager
You develop the integral procurement strategy for intermodal transport for all Van den Bosch operations in the region EMEA. You execute your strategy. You develop sustainable relationships with your suppliers resulting in competitive buying and being awarded with capacity in favor of competition. Doing so you help enabling profitable growth of Van den Bosch. You report to the Director Procurement.
You have a B.Sc. degree or equivalent and at least 10 years of experience in operational and tactical procurement. You are ambitious to further develop yourself in strategic procurement. You have experience in the sector logistics, preferably in water- or rail transport. You sense when to seduce and when to push through to get what you want.
You build and maintain relationships. People know what you stand for. You have high self esteem and confidence and challenge people on their performance and behavior. You are capable of making the right decisions under time pressure. You can handle some level of unpredictability, both from the external market as well as from the internal organisation. You are result driven and proud of what you deliver. You do not wait for others to pursue good ideas and take initiative. It feels good when you can help others. You are fluent in dutch and english.

Future development may include horizontal development to Operations (national or international) and potentially development into a management position. Location is Erp, the Netherlands. Travel share of the role is 10-20%.
